BMJ Case Rep Published online: [please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/ bcr-2013-202420 DESCRIPTION A 6-year-old boy, who fell while playing at school, presented to the fracture clinic with a suspected right distal radius fracture. On examination, the child was tender over the dorsal aspect of the distal radius and also had pain and stiffness around the elbow joint with a lack of the last 25° of elbow flexion. An acute haemarthrosis was also suspected at presentation. Plain anteroposterior (AP) and lateral radiographs of the elbow joint revealed an abnormal calcification superimposed on the anterior aspect of the coronoid process (figure 1A, B), which had not been visualised on plain radiographs in A&E. A CT scan, as suggested by the radiologists, revealed a 3 cm avulsion fracture of the anterior

Simultaneous Dorsal Base Fracture and FDP Avulsion of Distal Phalanx of the Little Finger

Avulsion injury of the flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) with concomitant fracture of the distal phalanx dorsal base is uncommon. Simultaneous avulsion fractures of the insertion of this tendon associated with rupture of the tendon from the bony fragment and combination with dorsal base fracture is very rare and also complicated. A 36- year- old man fell and injured his right little finger. FDP ...

Peculiar tendinous origin of the brachialis muscle: anatomic and clinical insight.

The current study seeks to elucidate the presence and potential function of an anomalous tendinous origin of the brachialis muscle. The brachialis muscle originates from the humeral shaft, which is usually muscular, thereby becoming tendo-aponeurotic distally towards its insertion. During routine cadaveric dissection, in a 52-year-old cadaver, the anomalous brachialis muscle originated in the f...
